Teresa F. Frisbie, of Counsel

Bio | Qualifications | Publications and Admissions

Teresa has been in private practice for more than 20 years, the last 12 of which she has spent serving as a mediator and arbitrator in addition to litigating cases. Most recently, she was named Director of the Dispute Resolution Program at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Although Teresa now spends the majority of her time at the Loyola School of Law in connection with her new position, she remains of counsel to DeGrand & Wolfe, P.C.

Teresa began her practice at the litigation firm of Foran & Schultz, where she later became a partner. Teresa has substantial experience in alternative dispute resolution processes, having been trained in international commercial arbitration as well as mediation. Teresa has mediated and arbitrated hundreds of cases and has taught mediation and international arbitration to law students. Teresa has been named an Illinois Leading Lawyer by her peers in the areas of Alternative Dispute Resolution/Employment, ADR/Commercial Litigation and ADR/International.

Much of Teresa's experience as an attorney and as a mediator has involved employment, partnership, real estate and trust/estate disputes in recent years. She has also represented clients and acted as a neutral in a wide variety of cases. Examples include: representing a celebrity martial artist in a privacy rights dispute with the maker of a well-known martial arts video game; representing a contractor in a federal court trial under the Clean Air Act; serving as a mediator in a medical software partnership break-up; representing the buyers of a commercial property in a successful fraud action; defending a Fortune 500 long-time client in a wrongful death case; representing an elderly motel owner with a disabled spouse in obtaining damages and the return of real estate; successfully serving as a mediator in a contentious estate dispute; and representing a doctor in a professional license proceeding.

Teresa attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for her undergraduate degree and Loyola University Chicago School of Law. She is licensed to practice in the State of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and is a member of the Trial Bar of the Northern District of Illinois.
